The authors hold to be true that in standard treatment for young patients with early psychosis, their strategic identity skills and the empowerment of their contact with reality must be enhanced. This could be achieved through specific new pathways endeavouring to strengthen the standard, modifiable, meta-representation skills, related to self-protection and congruent with the trends of social relationship skills. The Project involves young patients being seen or treated in specific centers for mental disorders in adolescents. The target age group is 12-21 years, with an IQ of over 92.5/100, no addiction nor admitted to mental care. A brief experiment conducted in four Centres for treatment of adolescents involved 16 youngsters in 4 group meetings, participating in activities related to the Theory of Mind, and 4 individual Video-Confrontation meetings. The intent of this trial was to achieve a brief indication of the technique’s efficacy on the individual growth of capability of meta-representation, specifically towards differentiation, decentralisation and integration. The skills being dealt with in treatment are evaluated (CBL, VVQ, VMIQ, TVIC, Self-characterisation, Ad Hoc Questionnaires). Having ascertained how sustainable the application is and with a positive response from youngsters treated, the next step is to invite other Centres for adolescents to join this Project. The ultimate goal is the collection of adequate and substantial experiment and control samples to validate or refute, the significance and validity of the proposed treatment.
